Bloggers Andrew and Tristan Tate rented supercars and borrowed yachts to create an illusion of extreme wealth on social media. This was revealed by their own lawyers in documents filed with a US court.
According to their defence team, the brothers’ business model depends on online attention, so they deliberately portrayed themselves as far wealthier than they actually were. For example, a $2.1 million Aston Martin and Bugattis worth $5 million and $7 million featured in Tristan’s videos were rented. The “superyacht” did not belong to the brothers either: they were paid to promote it on social media.
This image helped the Tates sell online courses to men about making money and becoming successful. Their lawyers now argue that the brothers’ claims about enormous wealth, unlimited cryptocurrency and cash resources, and “nine-figure” earnings from social media were exaggerations designed to attract views and generate income.
The Tates are currently being held in Miami while awaiting extradition to the United Kingdom. British prosecutors have brought new charges against the brothers in cases involving four alleged victims. The allegations include rape, assault and facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. The brothers deny any wrongdoing.
Separately, Andrew Tate is facing a civil lawsuit in the UK brought by four women who accuse him of sexual violence. The brothers are also facing legal proceedings in Romania.
In June 2026, the Tates visited Russia, where they posed on a tank and with weapons while wearing Russian military uniforms.
