The American club Anthem Orlando lost its Instagram page shortly after the local Pride march. The owner says Meta did not explain the reasons for the suspension, and an appeal has so far been unsuccessful.
This is not an isolated case. LGBTQI+ venues in Florida, Texas, New York, and San Francisco have reported similar suspensions. Even ordinary photos of drag performances are being restricted, with algorithms flagging them as inappropriate content.
Activists suspect the problem is related to Meta’s automated moderation. Meta support itself has provided no comments.
