53-year-old Olha Kapralova, whom Russian occupying authorities are putting on trial in Rostov on allegations of preparing to poison Russian military personnel, has retracted the testimony she gave during the investigation. At the Southern District Military Court, she said Russian security forces had held her incommunicado for several months, electrocuted and strangled her, and threatened to kill her children.
According to Kapralova, she and her husband were captured in August 2023, but their official detention was not recorded until November. During this period, they were held in an illegal prison in Melitopol. As a result of torture and psychological pressure, the woman signed fabricated interrogation records. Earlier, her husband, Hennadii, told the court about similar torture and a suicide attempt prompted by the abuse he said his wife had suffered.
Russian investigators accuse the Kapralovs of participating in an underground group allegedly subordinate to Ukrainian intelligence services and of possessing poisonous substances. Olha is currently being held in a detention center in Rostov.
